The sound cylinders are a tool that uses the hearing sense to determine discrimination between sounds.  There are 6 red cylinders and 6 blue cylinders with matching sounds that the child must hear and match.  This is also done by feeling what is inside of them by their weight and the way the surface of the wood scratches against the inside of the tube.
