Well, I discovered two new software programs recently that I’ll be trying with the kids.  One is called The History Project and it is free though targeted towards older children.  So I plan on modifying the subject matter to use to teach the girls as extra information and visuals.  I already spotted some solar system material I know they will be interested in.

The second program is called Khan Academy and has all sorts of subject matter for every age group.  This program is free also.  It also allows you to create accounts to track your children’s progress.  I think it is a great way to get the kids involved with their typing skills and logging into a program etc.  It is very basic but some of the material is good and will work nicely together with the material we are already learning.  It also gives me a nice outline that is right in line with common core ideas and what schools generally prepare students for.
